Wine & Dine: Chef Joachim Textor Has Been Cooking-Up a Storm at Semiramis’ The Grill

As one of the most popular modern hotels in Cairo, The Semiramis InterContinental Cairo is home to some of the best fine-dining restaurants in Egypt’s capital. From Thai at Birdcage, to Italian at Pane Vino, to Lebanese at Sabaya, there’s certainly no shortage in options; but it’s a different restaurant that has been in the headlines recently: The Grill Restaurant & Lounge.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Joachim Textor, The Grill’s kitchen has been putting together some truly unique gastronomical creations, many of which were out on show at a special Wine & Dine event that saw the acclaimed chef present an exclusive five course degustation dinner, which was, of course, expertly paired up with a selection of fine wines.
The Wine & Dine events have become a staple at the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo, opening discerning Cairenes to some one-of-a-kind dining experience and there’s more to come as soon as this November.
On Thursday 24th Textor is dipping into his treasure chest of recipes for another master-class of dining and if October’s event was anything to go by, the city’s foodies are in for a culinary treat of the highest order. The good folk at the Semiramis gave us a sneak peek at the November menu and we can’t wait. How does a hearty New England clam and scallop chowder sound? Or how about basted Australian saltbush lamb? A dessert fan? Then the deep-fried ice cream with chestnut puree should do the trick.
