Hello Cairo!

With the nation anxiously celebrating the New Suez Canal inauguration, Cairo’s nightlife is ever so restless.

Thursday sees a night of acoustic tunes featuring Shady Ahmed and his band, followed by Abou Wel Shabab’s outstanding beats and lyrics at Cairo Jazz Club. Taking to the stage modern arrangements for traditional Egyptian songs are Gazaga, at Cairo Opera House’s Open-air theatre and other oriental tunes can also be heard over at Zamalek’s Peking Lodge, where Mohamed Gamal entertains the crowd with classic Arabic songs.  

A blast from the past can be seen at El Sawy Culturewheel’s Wisdom Hall; where Sakia Puppet Theatre are taking to the stage their lively and brilliant puppetry, reliving Om Kolthoum’s legacy and oriental takht with the crowd.     

Meanwhile, at after-hours club, Bamboo, DJs 3bkarino, Kiko and Bob take to the stage, once again, their house music tracks and yet another night of restless live house music can be enjoyed at Heliopolis nightclub Cavallini.   

Friday sees popular alternative Egyptian band Black Theama performing at El Sakia Culturewheel’s River Hall, while El Masreyeen music ensemble, take the neighboring Wisdom Hall performing their pop Egyptian songs. A platform is open for all talents out there with Mashrou3 Al Mareekh’s open mic night at Darb 1718, while at Cairo Jazz Club, DJ Miesh takes to the decks his deep house music.   

Another busy weekend night over at Peking Lodge where Nasser Morali performs live violin tunes, followed by DJ Mo Ayad, taking to the decks his beats. Over at Cairo Opera House’s Open-air theatre, Egyptian singer Yasser Moawad and an Arab Takht ensemble perform a night of oriental songs, while Cavallini in Heliopolis rejoices in yet another great Lebanese night.   

Saturday is yet another busy night; starting off with Basheer, who returns to Cairo Jazz Club with his Upper Egyptian tunes, in the meantime, Pepperland, a Beatles tribute band entertains the crowds over at Room Art Space in Garden City, Karaoke fans have a fun karaoke night awaiting them over at Peking Lodge, while DJs Aly and Kiko once again take to the decks their dose of Lebanese beats at Bamboo nightclub.
