The leading short-video platform, TikTok counted down to 2020 with its top-performing users and a special collaboration with Egyptian singer/actor, Tamer Hosny. The 2019 TikTok Hero Awards honoured fellow TikTok users, who had a significant influence on the world with their videos.
The highlights of the year were displayed on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE, through a spectacular LED show. At the same time, many users were sharing their own highlights on the platform as part of its campaign, #My2019, as well as expressing their wishes for the new year using #2020MakeaWish.
Following his remarkable entry to Guinness World Records for most contributions to a bulletin board, Tamer Hosny collaborated with the platform and shared his first-ever TikTok video. He also challenged his followers to share their wishes, and promised to make five of them come true.
“I’m happy to be chosen by an international audience in TikTok, which is loved by millions for its fun videos. I hope I can share inspiring and positive videos. I am also excited to start the new year with my first global challenge through broadcasting ambitions and dreams with intentions of wishing peace, success, development and prosperity to the whole world,” Hosny shared.
As for the honours list of 2019, the Best Short story Creator was awarded to Saad Abdullah; Best Transition Creator was Ahmed Al Mulla; Best Challenger was Tala; Best Sports Creator was GameyFreestyle; Best Comedy Creator was Meeto Al Shamsey; Best Food Creator was Afrah Al Ghamdy; Best Fashion Creator was Khaleel Aqrabawi; Best Educational Creator was Englease; Best Music Creator was Ahmedoo Biggie; Best Rising Artist was Shireen Saad, and Most Popular Original Song went to Confait.
