So you call up your friends, iron out all the details, somehow figure out a time that suits everyone, and then you’re left with the most challenging task of all, where to go. The first thing that comes to mind, of course, is food, so you quickly choose a restaurant or café where you can meet and get it done with. But aren’t you sick of that same old outing? If you are, and we’re positive you are, check out this list of fun and unique outings in Cairo that are not about food.

The Maze

Putting a twist on a maze game, this spot puts you in a maze of door after door, and challenges you to find your way through the puzzling series of doors in under 60 minutes. You can play as groups of two to six people.

Gravity Code

If you’re looking for something a bit more active, check out Gravity Code. It’s a huge area filled with trampolines designed to keep you jumping, doing air acrobats, and even playing basketball. Get ready with your sportswear and hit Gravity Code for the jump of your life.

Heaven 47

Nestled on the banks of the river Nile in Egypt, Heaven 47 takes its spot at the beginning of Abu El-Feda Street in Zamalek, right before Club 33. On entry, you get to choose between a range of different size flower pots. The bigger the pot, the higher the price, and the more you get to stay in this beautiful flower garden. The decoration is stunning, and the Nile view is captivating. So just sit there, enjoy the view, colour your flower pot, and enjoy complimentary hot drinks for the duration of your stay. But don’t forget to take your coloured pot with you back home for the memories.

Ski Egypt

Winter is on its way and summer is saying goodbye, but if you want to fast-forward towards the freezing cold, hit Ski Egypt in Mall of Egypt and enjoy an unparalleled experience. Ski along the icy mountains, throw some snowballs at your friends, or play around with penguins, yes, real penguins (his name is Sultan to be exact)!

Adrenalin Park

PUBG has taken over our minds, but if you’re not satisfied with virtual gunfights, perhaps Adrenalin Park is what you need. This Sheikh Zayed spot is one of the best paintball arenas in Cairo, with tons of game modes, plus high-quality equipment to keep you going.

The Battlefield Egypt

Paintball fighting can get somewhat messy, so if you’re looking for a similar experience without all the fuss, try out The Battlefield Egypt, Cairo’s most prominent laser tag arena. Enjoy different game modes, set tactics with your team, and make sure you’re the last man standing. You can find it in Concord Mall, New Cairo.

Autovroom

If you’re more of a car maniac, then this place is your haven. This is the closest experience to Formula-1 racing that an amateur can get. Enjoy a Go Karting experience like no other in an expertly-built race track that will bring out the Hamilton and Schumacher in you.

Unleashed

Sometimes we want to go out to relieve ourselves from the stress of work or college, but what if a nice normal outing doesn’t cut it? Then it’s time for Unleashed. Get in a room with destructive tools and a whole lot of stuff to destroy, and unleash all that stress in unabashed bashing of old TVs, PCs, and more.

High Ropes at Deir Samaan

This is the perfect place for mountain-climbing enthusiasts who don’t have the time to travel all the way to Egypt’s mountains. We really like this spot, you can enjoy climbing tall mountains, try your hand at rock climbing, or use their zip lines like blockbuster movie stars.

Magic Planet

Bring out your inner child and rejoice in the nostalgic feel of good old arcade games. Try your luck at some of the circus-type games to collect tickets and win prizes, or just enjoy traditional arcade games like virtual motorcycle rides. The choice is yours. You can find it in Carrefour Maadi or Mall of Egypt.

Escape Rooms

Escape rooms in Egypt are all about creating a themed room with puzzles and hidden clues. Some require observation skills, while others require a bit of maths, but all can’t be solved without concentration and teamwork. Most escape rooms in Egypt are for groups of 2 to 5 or 6, and the individual ticket price goes down as the group gets bigger. Some of the best escape rooms in town are BreakOut Egypt in New CairoEscapology Egypt in Sixth of OctoberEscape Room Egypt in Heliopolis, and Escape Games Cairo in Zamalek.
