comes to shoe shopping, Cairo has a lot of shops that cater to all tastes and
budgets. Finding a pair of shoes that doesn’t break your bank, lasts for more
than a few months and looks stylish is usually an extremely difficult
task.

Located on Boutros
Ghaly Street in Roxi, Heliopolis, Fourteen offers a wide variety of affordable
footwear of mediocre quality. Design-wise, Fourteen doesn’t stock the best or
the most stylish shoes. But if you are looking for modest basics, the shop doesn’t disappoint.

At the time
of this reviewer’s visit, the winter collection had just been launched. Boots
in all colours and styles were dominating the shop. A pair of knee-length leather boots sells for
185LE. Fourteen also carries a vast collection of ankle books in various
colours and designs. A pair of ankle-length beige high-heeled leather boots
sells for 110LE. Fake Ugg boots are also on offer, starting at 170LE.

High-heeled pumps are available (95LE) in white, brown and other basic colours. A pair of turquoise pumps
with ankle straps sells for 79LE.

As for Fourteen’s ballet flats
collection, there are several sequined styles that start at 65LE. Starting at
110LE, evening sandals are available in bright colours, including golden,
magenta, silver and glittery black. A particular pair of high-heeled red
glittery platforms with silver heels and soles caught this reviewer’s
attention.

The shop also carries a magnificent
collection of clutches adorned with Arabic calligraphy, starting at 60LE. A
leopard print handbag is priced at 95LE.

This reviewer was particularly
smitten with a black faux fur purse (89LE) with golden embellishments; it did
look a bit over the top, though. Knowing that it would have been extremely
impractical on the Egyptian streets, we painstakingly resisted the urge to buy
it.

Small and practical messenger bags
(55LE) are available in a variety of colours, including taupe, brown and beige.
Faux leather belts sell for 55LE.

Evening-appropriate satin clutches
are also offered in champagne, silver, brown and black. Simple and elegant in
design, the clutches are among the best that this reviewer has found in Cairo.

Stacked at the back of the shop is a
collection of last season’s boots and summery flip-flops, with prices starting
at 25LE for a pair of basic flip-flops.

Although it might not be your
first shopping destination when you’re looking for quality shoes; if you
are running low on money and need a pair of shoes that combines style and
comfort, Fourteen is definitely a worthy option to check out.
