The Crib: Trendy Home Accessories in Citystars
Finding our way to the ground floor of Phase 2 in Citystars, the Crib ensnared us with its totally glass front and the cool, hip denotations of the word ‘crib’. Confirming our assumptions, we were immediately attracted to the eclectic mix of contemporary and retro home accessories on show.

On either side of the doorway were two photo trees; photographs or notes can be clipped on to the long wires hanging from the top of a main, silver stem. The large one was priced at 680LE, whereas a slightly smaller one cost 570LE.

The main centrepiece, an elephant grey material sofa (19500LE), was both comfortable and fashionable – a mix which is likely to be welcomed into any modern home. This piece was strewn with cushions from modish brand ‘Le Cerise Sur La Gateau’. The bright neon accents and pop art sketches on the cusions cheerfully contrasted with the plain grey of the sofa. Furthermore, the quality and squishy malleability of the cushions made them difficult to leave behind (400LE-670LE).

The black lacquered coffee table completing the set was priced at 4300LE, but if black isn’t sprightly enough, we also spotted a small table – which could double up as a stool – wrapped entirely with multicoloured balloons. Alternatively, a dull table could be spruced up with some colourful coasters in the shape of vinyl records (230LE/set of 6) or some vintage photography placemats (95LE each).

With the same style drawings as the cushions, from the same brand, the Crib stocks some heavy duty tea towels (145LE), shoe bags (195LE) and laundry bags (230LE). Similarly thick bath mats are also available for 560LE, whilst soap dishes formed from the word ‘soap’ are 70LE. A range of essential, pretty jewellery holders are available from 140LE-270LE.

There are a number of novelty items which successfully maintain the air of quality present in all the products. For example, a tall, cream, floor lamp, designed to look like a hat stand topped with a bonnet, was priced at 1400LE. A large, white clock shaped like Big Ben cost 920LE and a cluster of photo frames arranged to hang perfectly in a room corner will set you back 610LE.

The Crib offers a collection of practical, contemporary and unique home furniture and accessories which are often notoriously difficult to find amongst the classical designs in Cairo.
