With the curfew nothing more than a forgotten chapter of Egypt's turbulent 2013, Cairo's finally getting back into the swing of things; there's so much to do this weekend, and so much time to do it in!
Thursday night encourages plenty of partying; enjoy one or two fruity sangrias at Alchemy's Scarlet's Vintage Brew, or head over to Cairo Jazz Club for a night of sets from DJ Ramy, along with percussionist Mizo and saxophonist Nour. Heliopolis' Roof Bar are hosting a Mash Ups night, whilst Otium just can't get over the lack of curfew at their 'No More Curfew' event. Elsewhere, Buddha Bar are kicking off the weekend with a Ladies' night and Level host 'Walk of Fame'. If you fancy something a little more low key, Jazz Mate are showcasing the chilled-out sounds of Farah Hamouda and Aly Badawy.
Moving swiftly on to Friday, ByGanz is back with the 11th edition of TeaDance at the Clubhouse, DJ Zizo takes over the decks at Roof Bar's Roof Beats and Graffiti re-opens its doors for some Friday Night fun. Otium host their regular Friday on the Mix, Bamboo is having a 'Secret Friday', and O Bar's ever-popular R&B Night is back once again. There'll be an evening packed with Lebanese Treats at Amici Heliopolis whilst local DJ duo, Gawdat, are scheduled to hit the decks at Cairo Jazz Club.
One of the highlight events of the weekend comes at new bar/art-space VENT, which is set to open its doors to the public with a gig featuring Egyptian rapper Bambam.
Last but not least, Saturday winds down the weekend with Lebanese Love at Bamboo and Alchemy's 'There's Something Bloody About Mary' brunch. Uss We Lazq are scheduled to perform at Cairo Jazz Club and, over at 100Copies Music Space, The Invisible Hands unleash their psychedelic rock music. The AUC's student union are repping the freshers at their Welcome Party, filled with a line-up of local and international DJs, while over at the Rawabet Theater, Youssra El Hawary and the Serious Beans Project bring their unique sounds to the stage. Getting cosy a couple of hours, Balcon Lounge are screening award winning, cult classic, 'Requiem For A Dream' whilst El Sawy Culturewheel are hosting their ongoing, annual Chocofest.
Alternatively, you can always get cultured with one of the many art exhibitions around town. Otherwise, Cairo 360's event calendar is full of things to do. Have a good weekend!
