It's been a big summer for Huawei in Egypt – fact. Following the release of revolutionary new smartphone, P8, the state-of-the-art device has been touring the country, leaving a trail of quirky fun behind it.
Next up for the Huawei tornado of joy is the Music Tent in New Cairo on Wednesday 9th of September, where one of the year's biggest and most unique gigs is set to take place. HOH sees Hany Adel of Wust El Balad and of recent Ta7t El Saytara fame, Hany El Dakkak from Alexandria's biggest band, Massar Egbari, and Ousso Lotfy, whose expansive career is seeing him most recently part of the Shady Ahmed Band, alongside his usual musical pursuits – pursuits, and achievements, that have led many to consider him 'the best guitarist in Egypt'.
With the threesome set to perform a repertoire of different songs, Huawei is getting in on the act, giving five Cairenes the chance to win VIP tickets to the gig – all you have to do is film yourself performing one of the three musicians' songs, while using the hashtag #P8GoesHOH and tagging @HuaweiDeviceEg.
But there's much more happening on the day itself, with Huawei setting up booths for the same kind of tomfoolery we saw on the North Coast at super-club, Tabla, and the sandy coast of Marassi, where unsuspecting holidaymakers were lured to Huawei's wacky photo booth. Things got even wackier at Tabla during the evenings, where clubbers were able to see and use the P8's Light Painting feature.
Boasting a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, P8 has taken Egypt by storm; the official Egypt launch in June of this year had the country's technophiles descend on Virgin Megastore in Heliopolis shopping mall, Citystars, for a special event that saw the device sell out within an hour of going on sale, while one lucky buyer won a brand new car on the spot.
